Sanbell is a 280+ person community design firm formed from strong firms, each built on a solid foundation, and we are even stronger together.
Sanderson Stewart was started by three guys in a garage in Billings, Montana in 1969. Bellecci was founded in an office above a bar & grill in Concord, California in 1983. Summit Engineering’s first office was in the founder’s kitchen in 1978. All three firms started as traditional civil engineering and land surveying firms, and all three followed very similar guiding principles to become award-winning, regional multi-disciplinary firms. Sanbell was formed by merging these firms in 2023 and, together, we are building on our strong foundation to design intelligent infrastructure and create enduring communities for generations to come.
Today, Sanbell provides comprehensive land development and public infrastructure design services from offices across the West. From placemaking and land planning to geotechnical, transportation and infrastructure engineering, to surveying, mapping, communications, and visualizations, we provide the services you need to help responsibly take your projects from vision to reality.
- 1969: Bob Sanderson and Jack Mueller incorporated Engineering, Inc. in a garage in Billings, Montana. John Stewart joined them 3 years later and they became Sanderson Stewart Engineering, Inc.
- 1978: Tom Gallagher and Don McHarg from Summit Engineering Corporation, headquartered out of Tom’s kitchen in Reno, Nevada.
- 1983: Frank Bellecci opens Bellecci from a one-room office over TR’s Bar & Grill in Concord, California.
- 2023: Sanbell is formed by the merging of Sanderson Stewart, Bellecci, and Summit.
- 2023: Sanbell merges with Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. of Ventura, California.
- 2025: Sanbell merges with Core Design, Inc. a Washington based company.
