Led by Sanbell’s Community Planning team (formerly Sanderson Stewart), the Bozeman Health Subarea Plan provides a strategic roadmap for the future development of Bozeman Health’s property east of Highland Boulevard. The plan ensures alignment with the City of Bozeman’s 2020 Community Plan and supports responsible growth in one of the city’s most dynamic areas.
Although Bozeman Health had no immediate plans to develop the Highland Glen area, the subarea plan establishes a long-term vision for land use, infrastructure, and community design. The plan identifies opportunities for medical and commercial services, linear parks, and active transportation connections, creating a framework for a sustainable and connected neighborhood.
Community engagement played a key role throughout the planning process. From April 2022 to August 2024, Sanbell and Bozeman Health led extensive public outreach through open houses, community presentations, and online surveys. Early outreach gathered input on land use priorities and neighborhood needs. During the October 2023 open houses, the team presented a draft neighborhood framework that reflected public feedback and introduced new ideas for walkable design and community activity nodes.
In late 2023, the project team shared the final draft plan at public presentations and collected written feedback through January 2024. The City of Bozeman officially adopted the Bozeman Health Subarea Plan in August 2024, marking a significant milestone in shaping Bozeman’s future. The plan balances development goals with community priorities, advancing Bozeman Health’s mission while promoting thoughtful land use and sustainable growth.
